My Woodland Patch

Not too far from where i live is a nature reserve, a woodland surrounding a lake and reedbed. This is my second recording patch, and i thought i would share a few images with you all.

At the entrance a small feeding station looking east into the woodland.

A few of the regulars.
Robin

Great-spotted woodpecker.

Treecreeper.

The reserve is managed by the Natural History Society of Northumbria, often guided walks and events allow members of the public access to to the site.

View looking east across the lake, pretendy HDR from a single exposure.

Panoramic from 6 x images stitched together. The lake looking west, the small wooden structure is a tern platform. Common Terns breed on it.

Common Tern.

A rare sighting is a Bittern.

Badgers, Roe Deer, and Red Squirrels can also be seen, its also great for Funghi.

Woody Nightshade or Bittersweet, related to Deadly Nightshade.

Comma Butterfly.

Re: My Woodland Patch

What a 'stonking' set, I really like lots of them, the Greated Spotted Woodpecker, Treecreeper, Robin and the Tern. But the piece de resistance for me is the Bittern, I've seen several at Minsmere in Suffolk, but a photo like that is brilliant.
