Re: Robins everywhere !!!!

I dont know about a lot of Robins around Kay, certainly i have seen a lot this winter up to now. We may have around 5 that come into the garden, maybe more. But what surprised me more today was what i seen from early afternoon. I had just started putting up another pole for extra bird feeders and noticed lots of birds in all the trees to the right side of our garden, i thought at 1st that they were Starlings but we only usually get between 20 to 40 Starlings at any one time hanging around the area. I went back inside for my camera and after a shot or two quickly realized that they were Redwings, they were spread over 3 trees, took a few images at 100mm to get them in the shot just so i could try and count them, and then took a few close ups.......I counted at least 80 Redwings in the 100mm images. Whats more later in the afternoon the number increased, i would say to easily over 100 in the flock......And here was me a few days ago really happy seeing 5 Redwings land in the tree to the left of our garden. I was blown away by such a large number today

Re: Robins everywhere !!!!

Isn't birding the most fantastic hobby? I don't think there's a day goes by where we don't do something to do with birds it's just so very absorbing.

Nice shots Kay

That's amazing Mark, I have seen large flocks of Redwings around here, but not in the garden, it's usually only a couple will venture in, They are normally in the fields, so far away for a decent shot, maybe they are hungry and have come into your garden for food
