To be honest little one,I was struggling to see what/where the insect was in #2 and which was the front and back, as the aperture you have chosen makes it look very odd indeed. #1 is not so bad but you really need to control DOF better IMO, so that you do not have part of an insect sharp in the frame with the rest of the picture blurred. Much more difficult if the insect is facing the way it is on #2.

Thanks for the feedback guys.
I was aiming for something more interesting that just an insect on a flower with that first one and I actually like the dreamy shallow dof but I see that sharper eyes would have given more impact and definition.

I really like the shallow DOF, and can also see what others mean about the eye needing to be more focal, but both lovely images Em, makes me want a Macro lens whenever I see pics like this xx
