Sigma 70-300mm f/4-5.6 DG Macro - work on a D40x?

I want a new macro lens for my Nikon D40X..

Have looked at this one...

Will this be compatible, or should I go for the Nikon equivalent... all inputs welcome..

Thanks

Two of my favourite Nikon macro lenses are the Nikon 60mm AFS and the Nikon 105mm AFS - both have produced stunning results!

The lens you posted will work on your camera, it says so on the page
Kit 1
Nikon D300
Nikon 55-200mm VR
Kit 2
Nikon D40
Nikon 18-55mm
My Compact/P&S: Panasonic Lumix TZ7

For an extra tenner I'd go for the same lens but the APO version. The glass is far superior as are the results.

The APO version can be told by the red banding around the lens end.

The lens wont produce macro shots like a dedicated macro lens will, but with an extender you can get some pretty awesome results.

I've had this lens and can recommend it for a general lens with broad application on a budget.
