Sold my D90

With my new D7000 on pre-order I was looking for an opportunity to sell my older Nikon D90 to help cover the cost of the new camera body. Being realistic I would probably have never used it again. I placed an ad in another photographic forum for a package deal and got a taker. I was careful to get the asking price deposited in my Paypal account before I shipped out my camera. All that has been accomplished so now I'm off to the UPS office this morning to ship the buyer his good deal. I insured everything for $1200 just to be safe.

So, now I'm down to my P&S Nikon S550 until Nikon starts shipping the D7000. I've still got my Nikkor 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6 VRII waiting for the new body. It will seem like an eternity before it gets here.

The buyers name is Alex and he asked plenty of questions like what's the shutter count, any dings, was it in a smoker's environment? Good questions! My shutter count was 5741, I don't smoke & neither the camera or lens has ever been dropped and the sensor was just cleaned before packaging. I even fully charged both batteries and included a 4 gig SD memory card. I've already purchased 2 new 8 gig high speed class 10 cards for the new D7000.

I may have to go out and shoot foliage landscapes with my P&S as the leaves may all be gone by the time the new D7000 reaches me Phil. I keep telling myself it will all be worth it as I can travel any day because of my retirement looking for peak leaf color.

I got a really good deal on my D90 body when they first came out. I paid less than $800 for it and simply used the 18-55mm kit lend from my old D40X plus the newly acquired Nikkor 60mm F/2.8 macro, an excellent lens. With all the selling of different pieces of my gear I'll wind up with the new D7000 and my new Nikkor $800 18-200mm F/3.5-5.6 VRII super versatile zoom. It won't leave me with any fast glass or fixed focal length lenses but it will match my landscape/nature or tripod mounted time exposures just fine. I've used the 18-200mm handheld down to 1/3" with sharp results so I feel confident my present needs will be covered. All I need to add is another custom L-Plate from Really Right Stuff for my new D7000 body & I'll be set. I kept the quick mounting plate for my Manfrotto 055XPROB Tripod and Gitzo panning ball head that can also be used on my Manfrotto 680B Monopod. I'm set!

Wish I could get a new body, but then I wouldn't recognise myself.

I'm sure I will Suz. I've come to trust Nikon cameras. Each new model is more exciting than the last. Because of the need to sell the last to get the next there is a gap where I have no camera. I got such a good price, $700, for my D90, I couldn't wait until the new D7000 arrived. I look forward to learning all the new features and capabilities of the D7000.
