Sigma 70-200 F/2.8 or Canon F/4 L USM?

I own the Sigma, somebody had asked to trade for the Canon, what do you think? I think I have made up my mind, but would be interested to hear your thoughts.

Personally I would prefer the faster lens - but don't really know much about those two sorry.

Sounds like a Micheal Jackson song "It doesn't matter if your black or white".

The Sigma is a faster lens and thats the one I would stick with, and you know your happy with it.

Re: Sigma 70-200 F/2.8 or Canon F/4 L USM?

I guess you really need advice from a Canon user but with a Sigma you tend to either have a good one or not whereas Canon will be more consistent. I would also guess the Canon to be smaller and lighter if it is a stop smaller? Depends on whether that extra stop is worth it...you will probably be getting good performance from the Sigma by f4-5.6, the Canon may work better from f4 so maybe there is nothing in it? Only a guess...not based on any specific research.

Tough one that Dawn especially as you've just got the Canon EF 100-400mm f4.5-5.6L.

The 70-200 f4 is a lovely sharp lens but you're more or less shooting f4 at 200mm with the 100-400mm so I'd probably keep the faster option of 2.8 up to 200mm and stick with the Sigma if you're happy with it.

Can't help much as don't know the lenses involved, but what Phil's saying makes sense indeed!
