Waterfowl

We took the kids out for the day today and I managed to sneak my camera along for a walk around one of the local lochs. The light was a bit brutal but for a first attempt I got a few that I was happy with.

Mute Swan

Mallard Duck

Greylag Goose

Wait for me.....

Hiding his pal

Fly-by - Unfortunately the sun was low behind the swan so I ended up shooting his shady side.

When Swans go bad....

Did I read correctly on another post you made that you bought a 1d MKII? if so, how are you finding it compared with your 40d?

Re: Waterfowl

Thanks Grant - I'll just need to keep practising and if I go back to Lochore Meadows (where these were taken) I'll have to think about the time of day as when the birds are in the water the sun is right in your face.

I'm enjoying the lens and I actually like the push pull zoom. I've not really experimented with the different IS modes and I also keep forgetting the focus switch for 1.8m -infinity or 6.5m-infinity.

The other camera (It's a MKIII) isn't mine. Somebody I know had two (one being a spare) and he now has a MKIV so one of his MKIII could be available. I've only had a play with it but with his card in so I've not got the shots. I'm hoping to have decent amount of time with it soon so will let you know.
