DSLR that isn't gonna break the bank!?

I am looking to get a Good DSLR that isn't gonna break the bank!!

I've been looking on the net but I'm just not sure what to go for.

Not something too complicated, I currently have a fuji finepix 8.3 mega pixels.

any advice appreciated. Many thanks

How about the Nikon D40? This camera continues to impress me! Once set up to ken rockwells colour settings the pictures are just peach

What's your budget?

I have a 2nd hand D50 which I could flog with a couple of lenses - D40 is similar, smaller but newer.

Personally i think the D50 out perfroms the D40, and would seriously consider it. I have on in my arsnel for back up.

If the D50 has the same colour settings as the D40 I would seriously consider it, but one of the things I love most about the D40 is the colour it can produce, it's just 'lush'
