First Rant of the year!

Im a member of a wedding forum and a couple of times now hey sit there complaining at the cost at photographers - so i put them staright! LOL

Quote:
As a photographer myself all i can say is that these prices are well justified. They may seem expensive at first site but lets take a look for a moment:

First of your photographer will but in a few DAYS work into the shoot not one. They will visit the locations and take down any notes need for camera settings for your locations and talk to vicar ect what is/isnt allowed.

Travel costs

Equipment doesnt come cheap. The camera they will be using will be no less than £1000 and the lenses they use upwards of a £1000 to even £6000!!! This isnt including spare cameras. lenses, batteries (they cost bout £60), memory cards, tripods (over £200) Camera flash (£300) ect ect

The whole day spent at your venue.

At least another 48-72 hours sorting through, lets say 700 photos - editing, deleting ect ect

Photo software - iv got 2 programs which are worth in the regoin of £1500

Putting them on website another 4hours say? Give or take,

Printing - this does not come cheap - paper and ink for one 4 x 6 print is around £7 ish (depending on quality - im using middle of the road as example)

Ordering album - they cost upwards of £100/£150 - and putting them together can cost anoer days work.

Then this is orders from family and friends - again this takes time and also resources

Oh lets not forget postage and packing!!??

So Ladies when you look at the price, dont b**** to much as alot of prep work before and after goes into you album. You only see a small amount of whats done on the actual day smile.gif

Oh and if you buy the copyright then the photog will charge more as they will be loosing out on repeat business from your wedding day.
Do you think that will shut them up!! LOL

so for fear of a massive shout [im already ducking my head] from you i do think a lot over charge.

i know the equipment costs a lot of money but once you have it you have it.

Ah but it doesnt pay for itself As Sammy knows with her beautiful new lens, she will have to get in x amount of jobs at x price to pay for it

Somt do charge OTT but they are normally the con artists who are shooting with a point and shoot cam! LOL

Re: First Rant of the year!

i know didnt want to offend anyone.

but i always make the money first then spend it.

three weddings last year and it paid for 3 weeks in the sun for my family.

i know it is different if weddings pics pay the bills, but this is just my 2p worth

was the point and shoot a dig at me
cause thats what i have

Oh i quite agree as a hobbiest this is how its done But it can take years for someone such as myself or Sammy to come up with the money for what is needed so would have to cover the costs elsewhere - thats how businesses work
