Re: A few I took last night with the 50mm

Okay - since people like the lily - and it was to hand on the desktop I thought I'd have a go with textures... trying what Littleme suggested... what do you think? I rather like it - but then, I'm amazed I could do it at all!

Re: A few I took last night with the 50mm

Certainly makes an interesting image.
What I usualy do is rub away the texture from the most important parts of the picture - sometimes fully, sometimes just lightly.
So in this case, I might experimenting with fading the texture over the bottom part of the flower.

Re: A few I took last night with the 50mm

Ok - now how do you do tha?! I only know about the 'reverse-what-you've-done-with-a-paintbrush' button! That seems to take the whole effect away... how would I just take it away a bit?

Re: A few I took last night with the 50mm

Can you still see them as 2 layers?
If so, In Photoshop I can use the eraser tool on the texture layer to rub out over the focal point. Then I can fade the eraser until I get the effect I want.
I can also use the elliptical marquee tool with a feathered edge to delete a section of the texture softly.
When I started out (last week) I searched youtube for adding textures and watched a few tutorials.

Re: A few I took last night with the 50mm

That's a good idea - for some reason I'd not thought of tutorials! Will have a go at those things on another image (or retry this image at some stage). I think I flattened it to save as JPG so it's not do-able now sadly! Next time though.

Joined the textures group on the community here a while back - if you've not already, you should join! I've some pretty nice textures I photo'd last night tht I plan on uploading!
