The Big Fella

Was pretty poor lighting when we went to Michael Collins' birthplace in Sam's Cross, Clonakilty the other day. Was a fascinating place, very lovely indeed, with a lot of interesting history. Anyway - I got this photo of 'The Big Fella' himself - and I had a bit of a play in PS. I'm not sure it works, but the original was very drab looking, so I must go there and try again at some point - but for now, opinions welcomed

Re: The Big Fella

Looks OK to me - Not clear what you've done in PS but I guess that's a good thing.

PS

The name rang a bell so I looked him up. Quite a fellow.

Re: The Big Fella

I like it too, and whatever editing you did, it has worked

I remember learning about him at school,(a long time ago) and of course the film with Liam Neeson, though I do remember Julia Roberts Baaaaaad Irish accent too

Re: The Big Fella

Thanks all, I'm glad it works OK - I really wasn't sure, sort of made him look a bit like he was made of clay...

He was a very interesting character, and is hugely important in this area, everywhere you go he's mentioned. The film is a firm favourite here, but would have been better if Julia Roberts had been nothing to do with it!

We have another statue in Emmet Square in Clon, which was opened by Liam Neeson actually - there's a very amusing story to that - a friend of my little brothers, when he was really quite young, at the opening, and in a quiet bit, at the top of his voice shouted:

'Mum, MUM! I didn't know Michael Collins was in Star Wars!' Makes me crease up every time I hear it!
