Fox babies again! :D

Well - this evening was very pleasant - we've had some rough weather, but we had a lovely warm evening with gorgeous light tonight - a perfect night for mother fox to take her babies off out hunting! First off mum ran accross the field to set the trail:

Her babies, which are getting bigger, soon followed suit:

This baby heard the camera - and stared right at me...

Then started to run off - still looking... (look at those puppy paws!)

The other baby gave up on following mum though, and decided to have a kip on the sand bank where the Sand Martins live

Sorry there's so many - I was just really pleased to see them again!

Re: Fox babies again! :D

Great captures. You can see from these shots how well they blend in.

No wonder you're pleased to see them - We're also lucky enough to have lots of foxes living around us as we live in the 'country'. They can be a pain although modern wheelie bins do prevent the mess caused if they scavenge.

Funny how it's you that posted these because we had foxy problems when we lived at the top of Constitution hill and I don't mind saying that my Skye would have come in very handy back then.

Re: Fox babies again! :D

Aw, nice little fox. Love to see 'em. We get the urban types. Particulalrly 3 or 4 years back we had loads and loads and I used to be able to hand feed them but not quite so many now. The uninhabited house a few doors down where they lived I think had a new family who have cleared the garden.

Nice pictures, technically yes a few issues, but good to see the fox.

Re: Fox babies again! :D

See you used the Bigma Z and some of the shots do seem to be suffering from the "I have not used this for a couple of weeks syndrome" and you are using it (according to the EXIF) at full stretch, remember to bring it back a bit to about 480mm to get a much sharper shot. Hope you were using a tripod?

The exposure on the fox with a grass and foliage background is better exposed than those taken on the sand, you need to remember to compensate for that.

Off nagging again am I not, like the foxy shots although I do not like foxes anywhere near me.

Re: Fox babies again! :D

Thanks all!

Phil - so far we've been lucky - not had fox problems in Swansea, and here they stay away from the house really.

Azz - yep, a few blurry ones, wasn't good bright light, so not suitable for the bigma, but they were cute anyway - they won't win any awards but I was really pleased with them anyway

BC - thanks! Wish ours would become a bit less wary - would be lovely to get a bit closer and get some *good* pictures.

Jackie - Yep - Bigma hasn't been out of its case for weeks and I am a bit rusty, I did knock it back to 480 for a few shots, not sure if any of those came out anyway, TBH I didn't check which were at which lengths before upload. I wasn't using a tripod, rather a conveniently placed post, which was actually easier and quieter to use than the tripod I currently have  Wasn't sure about the ones on sand either - he blends in so well! but I do like his cuteness - and his puppy paws!

Re: Fox babies again! :D

Can't get info on the first but all the others are at 500mm think you did well without a tripod.

The problem I find with the Bigma you can't get the shutter speed high enough for wildlife unless the light is good and would think this was the problem here.
