Freshly mowed field
Well, it's not really important if this works or not! 
as it's being used as a background and album cover for another musician who commissioned some portraits off me 
Long story short, they're going through a friend who does advertising copywriting, and recording etc - so I was to take photos of himself, and suitable local scenery - this was the favourite, as it's suited to the layout of the CD.
Annnnyway - I rather liked the rolling hill and the colour I expect it'll be seen as lacking in something but I was really pleased with the serene aspect of it

Actually I would expect a CD cover or book or whatever would need some 'space' for titling etc. Would be interested to see the crop that fits the CD as generally they are 'square' pics so i would guess the left-most side?

I like the left hand side the clouds are mimicking the mowing and as you say it has a peaceful symmetry. 
would sell the right hand side you don't need it.

It's a wraparound cover which is why the plainer side. The plainer side will have the artist superimposed over it, and the side with more going on will be the back cover with the writing over it (how the designer will do this remains to be seen - I know he's finished but I've not seen it yet!). Obviously, it's a different, more panoramic crop.
