I don't get Macro

This may well be in the wrong place...lol

It says Macro is the setting to use for close ups but when I use it on my little compact, it seems to make very little difference..

It just zooms in ever so slightly - but the photo doesn't appear much different...

How am I supposed to use it properly?

Re: I don't get Macro

Don't know your camera but often you have to make more than one action to produce a macro, and when the camera is in macro you should be able to get within a few inches of the subject, sometimes as close as an inch.

Know it goes against the grain but may be this is a case of if in doubt read the instructions
Kit 1
Pentax K7
Pentax 60-250mm
Sigma 105mm Macro
Pentax 12-24mm
Pentax 50mm 1.4
Sigma 50-500mm (Bigma)
Kit 2
Pentax K20d
Lens as other body

Re: I don't get Macro

Thanks Snapper,

I've read what it says about macro and it's all a bit vague... It just says to press the button with the flower on it and that enables macro...

Re: I don't get Macro

Macro mode, normally let's you focus closer to the subject

Macro lens usually allow you to get close to a subject and focus, than normal lens. Some as close to an inch away

Re: I don't get Macro

Lottie, select the subject, switch to macro, start about 4 inches away from the subject, half depress the take button and see if it comes into focus, if not try at 6" and the 8" and so on. Sure you will find it should work somewhere before 18" but don't try to do it outside in a gale.

Re: I don't get Macro

i had that camera, and i found it was ok at macro, but you couldn't get massively close. try half pressing the shutter at different distances as suggested above, its what worked for me. they didnt always come out great though with the camera, i found it hit and miss.

Re: I don't get Macro

Ah ok thanks guys...

It was more that I just didn't get what it was supposed to do... and it seemed to make no difference.

I'll have a play again later (I'm going to have a shock when I go back to work )
