Lockeepers House

Ah well, here goes..a few weeks ago I posted this same scene in monochrome, but I went back yesterday to have another look. I have a number of images that require some post processing but this is the first. So, this time the scene is in colour. Already played a little in Photoshop but the exposure etc. is pretty much as it was.

Nikon D300, Sigma 12-24mm, 1/50sec at f15, ISO100, +/- 0 compensation

I already know what I would like to do in PP but my skills presently don't allow me to sort it.

C&C welcome.

Edit: Just uploaded this via Photobucket. The uploaded version looks distinctly cooler than the warmer tones of the original jpg I have locally on my computer?

Re: Lockeepers House

Wonder why that is.... try uploading it to imageshack.us (you don't need an account there) and see if the same thing happens there?

Re: Lockeepers House

Can anyone give me an idea of the PP process they would follow to bring the foreground wood up to make it more significant. I was thinking of lightning. Other ideas for edits welcome. The original jpg IO have looks warmer and the foreground highlights more significant. Photobucket must have changed their algorithm for uploads if this problem is being noticed by others - I'll check it out.

PS. Thanks Moonie and others. Leicestershire doesn't have the dramatic landscapes like on the doorstep of some people. I've recently got back into walking as a hobby although it means waiting mainly for Saturdays and reasonable weather. Tends to be locally due to time etc. and even though I've clocked up a few freezing miles over fields, canals etc. really I've seen little photographic opportunity. Enjoyed the walks but a bit disappointing when you are looking, looking, looking...

Re: Lockeepers House

Have you tried some dodging and burning on the wood pile?

Re: Lockeepers House

Hope you don't mind:

To do this, created a duplicate layer then in-versed it and gaussian blur to 70 pixels and lowered the opacity to 70% and then converted the blurred layer to mono.

...looks so much better, thanks, but I am a loss why we would be blurring anything or adding mono layers... seriously, I just have so much to learn about PP. I think there are some basic principles I just don't understand.
