Re: Goldfinches.

Bazza - do you want C&C on this photo or are you just sharing? (if just sharing I will move the thread to the just sharing section)

Re: Goldfinches.

cc would be nice, I did slip up a bit and forgot to reduce the ISO from max to somewhere around 400 but it did allow me to shoot at 1/8000 sec shutter speed which did "freeze" the picture. The result of the wrong ISO is a load of noise but there you go you can't have everything.

Also the picture was cropped on Dawns advice so can't blame me for that.

Thanks for asking Azz.

Re: Goldfinches.

You could post the original too Bazza if you like, then cropping it would be a matter of all opinions.

Re: Goldfinches.

I'd post the original too - the crop is way too tight and so makes the noise quite pronounced.

Re: Goldfinches.

The original is noisy too, there isnt much cropped, just the edge of the feeder on the left. I think bazza's settings were just a bit out, I think if they were rght, the shot would of been SUPER!!!!

Re: Goldfinches.

I think today at least it was a case of get it while you can as the Birds were in a feeding frenzy. Bazza was left guarding the office while Sue and I were otherwise engaged.

We will have to compare notes!

Re: Goldfinches.

Lol not the ideal circumstances for a photography session then

I think the picture as a 'capture' of these birds would be nice from a birdwatchers perspective (as it's like, hey look what I caught on camera - hence I asked if he wanted it in the sharing section), but as a photo (from a photographers perspective) it doesn't quite work :-/ (although I do like how he's captured how they're 'talking to each other' )

Do you guys have bird watching huts round there? There are loads set up here by the council (well least in Radyr, Cardiff) and you'd need to take a whole day mind as I guess it would be pot luck if you see anything, but it would be in a nice natural setting, perfect for bird photography

I think they are often free or quite cheap to go to too

Re: Goldfinches.

It is a shame about the settings Bazza which lens do you use? are you far away from the feeders?

It would of been a cracking shot, too at least you were in the right situation, and actually captured it! xx
