Dead Cars

I was out and about today - I spotted this dead car in the reeds. I thought it was worthy of photographing.

Same in B&W (couldnt decide which I liked - but in hindsight I like the bleached colour one)

Re: Dead Cars

Like that a lot JR (the colour one).

There was one like it here last year, and I wanted to take a pic of it for the monthly topic 'journey' - but by the time I went back there the council had taken it away

Chevette? Blimey, where did they all go to...in teens or early 20's always wanted a Firenza 2.2 or a Manta (amongst other ideas) but never got one...

...could be wrong, but I don't think it is a Chevette...or even the more likely equivelent in JR's neck of the woods an Opel Kadette, looks a bit different to me if it is...

Just wondering if it's a smaller Citroen...

Re the pic, I am usually an admirer of JR's work but although I think this is the best of the situation it's not quite up to the usual high-standard of JR pics for me. The paintwork still looks a bit glossy (despite the rust) and allows my eyes to escape the frame in the reflection, the highspots along the front of the bonnet somehow (for me) add up to the car not being weathered enough and the visible countryside in the upper left.

May work if the green car colour was isolated against everything else in black and white or high contrast? We all see something a bit different...

May also be some possibilities with that car though, broken insides, broken windscreen etc?

Re: Dead Cars

There's so much history contained in this type of photograph. That's one reason I like photographing old logging camps and equipment here in the Pacific Northwest. Everything was so much larger and grand compared to today. Good capture Jack.

Re: Dead Cars

Nice shot, the mono one doesn't work for me as it does not seem to have enough contrast, it's too bright.

But the first picture is really good, almost a fitting end

I thought it looked more like an old Renault or Citroen though.

Re: Dead Cars

I like these but much prefer the colour one The B&W one just has something missing (and don't say colour!!), it just doesn't pop for me
