Mostly it's down to time, patience and knowing how close you can get without scaring them off Those pictures are actually quite a bit larger than the actual subjects are (the bees are at about a 3:1 ratio and the Damsel Flys are roughtly 2:1). Macro photography can be very rewarding, due to the level of detail you can achieve, but it also takes time to get it right (especially when working with insects! They don't exactly pose when you ask them to 
).
I quite like that one too It's a bit hard to see in the image I have posted but the ladybird is actually munching on one of the aphids.

Great pics, I've been snapping away at Damsel flies like in the first 2 pics, but none came out anywhere near that good, I love the last pic, the red colour and details are amazing also love the Ladybird shot, you can even see the blackfly clearly
