Nice shots DJ.

You always manage to get the blue skies when you're out.
I never seem to have that much luck, lol

I love the angle in the first shot.

Just love no4, love the sparkles of snow in her coat, and she looks so happy, and you can really see the warm colours in her eyes. Really captured the playfulness too

No ND filter, just a Hoya protection uv filter. Just thinking, I prob should have used my polariser, at least for the portrait shots and activated HTP (highlight tone priority) in camera as I have it disabled. That would have helped with the blown whites on Loki, which I'm very dissapointed with myself for not noticing in the field. I'm surprised no one has commented on the blown whites on Loki's fur as it's usually the first thing I would notice and criticise on someone else's pics. Why did I post them I hear you ask? I prob thought they were not so bad at first but to be really honest with myself, I think these are some of the worst images I've taken of Loki (after studying them for a while) with the exception of #4 as there are only miniscule blow outs on the whites, plus, she looks happy compared to the rest of the images which are really quite boring shots of her.

I thought I'd try something different, and so I used my wide angle 17-40 for these shots while lying on the snow. Loki was very tired this day, the snow was deep and she mostly wanted to just lie on it or on top of me

Lesson learned, if subject or yourself does not feel up to it, forget it and try again another day.

Considering that I'm learning, are you referring to the patch of fur just under her chin and (on #2) her inside right leg?

I dunno, looks like some nice shots to me (beautiful blue sky, good snow, nice looking dog). You mentioned that she was tired -- that's a little difficult to pick out if you don't see her day-to-day (I can clearly see when my dog is tired/not feeling up-to-snuff, but for those who don't see him frequently I'd guess that he would look like a normal well-rested happy Golden).

Mind if I ask, what does "Utonagan" mean? Part of her name?

Hi Tagalong.

Yes, the fur under her chin on #1 and 3 is blown (over exposed) and could have been avoided.

She gets tired because of the drugs she gets for epilepsy.

Utonagan is the breed - have a look at this link for more info http://theutonagansociety.com/
