Re: Henry Lowther

Wonderful to meet someone who knows him Brian! He's a lovely guy, and I've known him for many years - he sent us all a thank you card today he's a lovely guy, and does have some fab stories... I always remember his stories about Bryan Ferry!

I'm very lucky to have met, played with and become friends with some of the great British Jazz musicians!

Re: Henry Lowther

Also had the pleasure of being friends with this wonderful man:

He's just outstanding... and he has my old trumpet, it was a gift to him because it needed repair, and I'd stopped playing

Also got to play with Dick Heckstall-Smith

Re: Henry Lowther

Wow i love music, and am so jealous of anyone who can play. I have very wide tastes and its still my first passion, im a product of the 60s and these guys have often featured on music i love, mostly on fringe bands like Caravan, Colosseum etc. I have to make do with a decent record collection, as i cant play anything.

Re: Henry Lowther

Sorry but I have never heard of him so I have to look at the picture as some guy with a musical instrument.
So looking at the picture all the lighting is comming from one side leaving the other side in almost darkness. Don't know if this is intentional or not but I have to say it is not something I would consider taking. As for the hands and the trumpet they seem to me out of focus as well.

Re: Henry Lowther

Yes Bazza, it's entirely intentional, and I am very happy with the shot which is what matters in the end thank you for taking the time to comment, but I'll have to disagree with every point you've made

Brian, it's wonderful to have had such an involvement with these guys, some of the most interesting people I have ever had the pleasure of knowing

Re: Henry Lowther

Of the 3 images, no 1 works best for me, i guess that because as the musical images ive seen tend to come from the 60`s musical press. Melody Maker, Sounds, and New Musical Express were my sources, devoured with relish often a B&W photo being the first time i saw the artists who inspired my love of music.

These days so much is stage managed its a sterile artform, perfectly executed but lacking emotional content. I do think its the reason i can enjoy B&W but not relate to HDR.
