What I've done lately with family shots

My favorite family photos that I have taken. This is my best friend and her husband and her beautiful children.

Anything in the photos that you would have done differently?

Regarding the 2nd shot I would have closed the lens down a bit to at least F/5.6. The reason I would do that is because, with 3 faces in the frame, invariably they will be on slightly different planes. At F/4.5 you don't have much latitude to keep all three faces sharp and in focus at the same time. I also would have underexposed the 2nd shot just a bit to get better skin tones such as those in the first posted shot.

Re: What I've done lately with family shots

Okay, thanks Bob. I did apply an "old style" action to #2 in LR but still it was on the lighter side initially. Thanks for the input!

Me too....

With the first shot, I would probably increase the exposure a little, add a bit of a vignette to it and very little else.

I have a thing about vignettes and bright exposures

I can only see one too - I think it's great

The only thing I'd probably change is the far left - where the lighter coloured distance can be seen - I'd probably want to keep the shot in frame tonally similar. But it's still a great shot

Re: What I've done lately with family shots

Hey thanks you guys! You know what I think happened to my 2nd photo... I noticed that all of my threads that I posted that night also posted on my facebook page. So, I thought I was just removing them from my timeline but evidently it deleted them here too! That is a lesson learned!
