Re: Ospreys in the wild today

Nice shots Phil. Maybe you could attach your camera to one of their telescopes, all you would need is a t-ring (to replace lens) and a t-ring adaptor for the telescope end,
or just buy a tele converter to get much closer.
Do you have to be in that hide to view the Ospreys, or, are you free to walk around the loch near where they feed?. I'd like to go there to try get pics, but I feel my lens would be a little short as well for the shots I would like.

As far as I could tell that's as close as you can get but I think you would be OK DJ as it isn't anywhere near as far as it looks on the first picture through the hide window. You certailnly can't walk around to those trees though as these birds / eggs are very well protected.

The male & female fly in and swap places every 45mins so they are quite predictable on the nest however they can fish pretty much anywhere so you may get a close shot if you're lucky.

I thought about a teleconverter but I think I may loose a lot of light with the quality of my old 300mm lens.

There's plenty of other birds on and around the water too though if the ospreys aren't being helpful.
