Re: Blue Day at the Beach...comments welcome

I had a go, as i had the same prob with a pic i took, i just used the smudge tool to reduce some of the glare, then use the dodge tool set approx the size of the sun and re touch it..

Black Cloud i love the original, and as Snaps says each picture is unique

Which one do you honestly prefer???

I lik eth eblue filter idea, and think once the sun has been toned down like Grants edit, it really works too

That wasn't much help was it

I don't do C&C's not enough experience, but I will try and tell you my gut reaction.

Hi Moonstone...thanks for your comments. Don't worry about experience, you are well qualified for C&C. Maybe in your opinion you don't feel qualified to comment technically (?) but your gut feeling and artistic appreciation are great indicators on how a picture is just seen by others. I greatly value your opinion. I genuinely wasn't sure which version I preferred.

Grant, thanks for that. I'll play later but you have done a good job. As you know i am new at Photoshop so wasn't sure where to start. I posted here just for people to give an indication what they thought and give ideas and it's good that people have cast their opinion. I liked the pic originally but somehow i felt it was a simple silhouette seen many times before. I perhaps play with both version and see where I end up...

Re: Blue Day at the Beach...comments welcome

I very much like the original. The blue does little to add to the 'feel' of the subject matter IMHO. Perhaps on a different subject the blue filter (toned down) may be a worthwhile punt.

End of the day art is art - are photos art - who knows, who cares - you like what pleases the eye and thats the beauty of photography and art, we all like so many different things for many different reasons. But in this instance the blue imagery leaves me cold.

I love it, just like it is. Most would go with a range of color in the golden yellow to sepia range but I like your treatment. It's artistic instead of simply realistic.

Re: Blue Day at the Beach...comments welcome

I'm admitting to trying out MSs suggestion of B & W on your original, did nothing clever used the mode button to change it to grey scale, increased the contrast & burned (a bit too much) the sun and clouds and I think it gives yet another dimension to your shot.

Think you will say you have see a shot like this umpteen times but that must mean it is an image type that is enjoyed by many.

Will remove from here and my files if you request.
