Re: I got my camera, Nikon D60

KC

Little tip

Most professional photographers leave the setting on aperture priority (A) this will let the shutter speed adjust for that.
As against reading how to use it take a look here at these instruction videos by Nikon

http://www.nikondigitutor.com/eng/d60/index.shtml

KC have PM'd you with this link incase you loose it, might be worth bookmarking it for future reference

Re: I got my camera, Nikon D60

Nice one. I've had no experience with a Nikon D60 or a Canon 450D for that matter but I'm pretty sure whichever one you had chosen you would have enjoyed.

I like my D50 a lot so I'm just looking forward to your pictures now !

As for removing dust the D60 has dust removal built in if my memory serves me correctly. the D60 did impress me at the Focus-on-Imaging at the NEC we went to earlier this year, the amount of features for the price is up with the best of them.

I seem to remember someone upgrading from the 450D Canon not so long ago to the 40D, I wonder why?

No Barry, you categorically stated that the Nikon was KNOWN for poor battery life!!! I could locate the posts you made about it on another forum if you wish? Why dont you check out DP Review which says it has VERY poor battery life and is about half in comparison to the D70s!!! me thinks you forget too quickly!

Yes I wonder why about the 40D? Considering I have NEVER owned the 450D, who are you speaking of?

Re: I got my camera, Nikon D60

Nice one Kc

The D60 is a fine camera, built upon the impressive D40 (which I have too ). One thing I like about the D40/D60 series is that they take really good pics from the outset, needing little PP... excellent for beginners! However they also offer enough control over picture for those who want to get into the nitty gritty. Also, I love the kit lens.

With regards to battery life, it will vary from model to model. I can't speak for the D200 but the battery life on my D40 and D300 is VERY impressive - I've gone out 3 days on the trot and taken as many pics as I can without problems (probably over a thousand when you add them up)

Congratulationx on your new camera. I just know you'll have years of fun with it. I might heartily suggest the very first thing you do is put skylight or uv filters on any lens you might have. They'll protect your investment. Secondly I'd get a polorizing filter to fit the lens you are most likely to use outdoors. The effects on sky & water scenes are dramatic. Have fun!!!

Re: I got my camera, Nikon D60

Congrats on the new camera.

I have a nikon d40x and love it.

i recently did a wedding took 900 pictures on one battery and it still had life in it.

so check what your battery is capable of before you jump in and buy another one.
