Being honest this shot was now taken by me. It was a humorous photo attached to an e-mail from my sister. I was so tickled by it I saved it for just such an occasion.
Don't worry about being able to do special effect shots as a new photographer. Everyone's priorities in life are different. You've got two kids to care for & that's much more important.
What sort of graphics software do you use? There are wonderful courses available online for certain programs.

I kinda guessed you hadn't taken that photo 
The software I use at the moment is Adobe Photoshop Elements 5.0 - have no idea where to start really. Done a few bits but nothing special!
