Re: Young Red Deer.

I appreciate the picture for what it is Bazza - a good capture of what you managed to 'glimpse'.

I accept that people will judge a photo on it's technical merits regardless of the situation because at the end of the day that helps us to learn and improve.

That said - When offering a crit I always try to evaluate the circumstances. Part of a photographers skill is simply getting a chance at a shot. Staged / contrived shots for me should be much beteer than shots of chance encounters.

AZZ
As for more " Owl" shots I will have to look out some and see if they are any good. I am sure the owls won't give a hoot if I posted more or not.

Re: Young Red Deer.

Bazza, your comment on the circumstances the photo was taken are completely irrelevant. It’s no more than an excuse for a poorly executed photograph. Wildlife photography is not about taking the best photo you can in the situation, it’s about being prepared for whatever you may encounter and taking advantage of the environment to produce something that shows effort and skill.

We have all seen the most amazing photos produced for wildlife photographer of the year, where the photographer was in a much more challenging environment then overcast skies and a brick wall in the way!!! I can’t imagine them saying to the judges "sorry about the blurry polar bear, but it was really cold and snowy. My hands where cold"

The photograph you posted here, shows no planning or thought. It’s very generic and uninspiring. Yes it’s a nice reminder of the day, but as something that's void of critique? No it is not.

If you cannot take CC then don’t expect to get many comments or improve.

My comments may well be harsh, but I say things as I see them.

Re: Young Red Deer.

I just edited the picture to show what i meant....

Do you know what i will just stay out of Bazza's posts in future!! I can't be bothered!!!!

I stand by my critique and i gave some pointers how it could be improved... planned or not planned... but i think the photo is in the wrong section.

Re: Young Red Deer.

You could of been a little pleasant more rather than how you were. Go look at a few VERY recent postings in the AOP section and see the comments there, you will see what I mean.

Nobody has to comment on anyones photos, I dont comment on KK's pics much because almost every one is of her son, and Im not the slightest bit interested in people photography, nor how much you can change a picture from the original. However I do appreciate it "her thing" and good luck to her for that, I did see a couple nice Swan shots, they DID interest me, I LOVED them! Sam your stuff I like a lot, I love how you capture movement and the atmosphere, but still I think your comments were harsh here and the edit I thought made the picture look almost 3D and very unatural.

Now as I said before I told Bazza to post the pic, so Im to blame for you all ripping it to shreds not him.

I think Azz is right, the section clearly isnt working for whatever reason, given some recent threads, what one person thinks is a nice shot, others clearly see as crap, but Ive always said, if it pleases your own eye, who cares what anyone else thinks!! I should of put in the other section though, forgive me for thinking a picture of wild Deer could be planned in advance!

Re: Young Red Deer.

kANIKULA

I suggest you read what you wrote

quote "Bazza, your comment on the circumstances the photo was taken are completely irrelevant. etc" unquote. ( post 13 )

then you say quote " ! We comment on the image not the poster. " unquote

May I suggest you decide what you want to say first

Bazza
