Im not too sure why Nigel, I think its more pleasant on the eye, easier to look at! But it is nice either way, my personal preference is portrait! Great image anyway!

I like the portrait one, spanning out from the base.It appears like a sun-rise and the glow adds to the effect. The image would continue out of the frame displayed like that and perhaps gives us a prompt to picture what lies outside the frame?
