My (alphabetical) 52

I decided that I would try the A-Z challenge, but doing it weekly rather than daily and with the aim of trying different techniques (the A-Z bit is to encourage me to find different things to photo than the dogs who are my usual subject!). Not sure what I'll do when I get to z..maybe go back through the alphabet for the rest of the year!

I have already been doing it for a month but only just decided to post. Comments to help me improve are welcome

A is for Alcohol

B is for Bikers

I know this one isn't quite as sharp, but I liked the sense of movement in it

C is for Cobweb
I don't have a macro lens so this was with some cheap extension tubes which meant no apperture control and manual focus only

D is for Dead Tree

So that's up to date, the rest will follow weekly.

PS - is it just me, or do embedded photos in Yop not look as sharp as in flickr itself?

Re: My (alphabetical) 52

Hali, would you know how to get both the glass and the can in the first photo sharply focused without changing the F-stop of your camera?

One easy way is to take two photographs of the same thing, focusing on each object separately then blend the two together while masking the blurred item. This technique keeps the background blurred while keeping items you want sharp in focus. This is really helpful when shooting two people in the same frame but at different distances from the camera lens.

Hali

Starting off with an alcoholic drink as the "A", by the time you get to "Z" you won't care about taking pictures, thats if your still standing.

That's useful, thank you - I'll have a go at that some time soon

Re: My (alphabetical) 52

Well E provided challenging. Things didn't go quite the way I wanted and I was tempted to fall back on a photo of my dogs running on the beach (E for Enjoyment) but resisted.

Thought I'd do an eye - never realised before just how reflective they are..so might use this as my self portrait

Played around with trying to get an apple (as in 'apple of my eye') reflected, but didn't get it right before my OH had to go out and inconsiderately took his eye with him.

So then I decided to play around with Electricity...here's the filament from a light bulb.
