Just trying a new set up in the garden. I'm not entirely happy I must admit - but here's a few from the other day, and poor light

Not sure about the pigeon but the other 4 images are fantastic. 2&3 nice and sharp and well composed and 4&5 perfect DOF. Was the lens opened all the way up??

Re: A few garden birds :)

Great Tits - I find it's hard to expose these well due to the extreme white and black.

The cheeky dove makes for an interesting shot too.

Re: A few garden birds :)

The lens was open for all of them

I actually really liked the collared dove because it was a bit different What don't you like about it? (I'm not being in the least bit confrontational by the way, I'm just really interested to know what it is that other people don't like about a shot that I do like, and vice versa! )

I liked the space in it, and the bokeh, and the inclusion of the dandelion personally

Think my favourites are 4 and 5 though

Yes Phil - I find that too - and that's why 5 looks a little flat to me I think - it was very hard exposing for them - not helped by the sky. I think in fact that is why I am not overly happy with my set up - I need it to not be so dark and light in the background - it's either really dark foliage or really bright sky - whereas my old spot was just a really nice even light green foliage.

Re: A few garden birds :)

Not much wrong with the image of the Dove Laura but for me personally the 1st thing my eyes get drawn to is the grass although the image as a whole works well and it helps give the image depth

Re: A few garden birds :)

Thank you I can definitely see what you mean - the bird is a little lost in the shot.

Re: A few garden birds :)
