Re: Mikey

Another good portrait BC, I like the direct eye contact but you have cut the top of his hair off.

Re: Mikey

I like it. Don't know Mikey from Adam but he looks like a old time gangster.

Re: Mikey

Interesting shot, but not my favourite of yours either - because you always post such exceptionally high quality images, the slightest things seem to niggle more the top of his hair bothered me too!

Great expression though, and I love the tones.

Re: Mikey

Just my take.. ideally the hair would maybe be there, or maybe even a closer crop... I like the tones, the whiskers, the dark eyes... if this was anyone elses picture, I see enough in the face to not worry about the hair. Not sure if everyone enlarges the pictures by clicking on them or just view them in forum, but it looks better to me larger.

Anyway, a slightly different edit...with hair

Re: Mikey

My thoughts:

I prefer your second picture over the first by quite a margin.

I think having a bit more head room in this picture just makes the subject look more natural/comfortable, if that makes sense?

Also prefer the PP as this has brought more detail into the face, especially the forehead & cheeks.

The eyes also look more friendly in this second shot for some reason as well.

Re: Mikey

Agree with Ken - there's something more soulful about the second... hard to define, but it could be because of the texture. Really fab work though Stu - I'm always in awe of your work (and yes, always look at full size too!)
