Photobucket test - a new pic

Testing another Photobucket setting... however here's a quick portrait 'through a window' which you are welcome to C&C.

I'm a bit undecided about the treatment.. was trying to give it an older 40's style colouring to it....

Nikon 80-200mm f2.8
Tamron 24-135 SP
Nikon 300mm f4
Nikon 70-300mm VR
Sigma 18-50mm f2.8 (DX)
Nikon 28-105mm (great walkaround on D700!)
Lensbaby Composer
Nikon 20-35mm f2.8
Nikon SB800
Kit 2
Nikon D300
Nikon 20mm f2.8
Nikon 24mm f2.8
Nikon 28mm f2.8
Nikon 35mm f2

Re: Photobucket test - a new pic

I like it and think the 40s treatment is very effective. I think it does look very 40s - though something is nagging at me that's not quite right for 40s, but I'm not sure what. It could be as simple as the fact that there's something not quite 40s looking about the model. Mind, having said that, there's nothing that stands out about her as being not 40s - so I'm not sure. Have you thought about adding a bit of noise? Might make a difference?

FWIW though, I love this pic, and I think it's every bit as good as your usual high standard. I love the treatment - and the background bokeh is lovely too. Beautiful creamy tones as well.

And as for the upload - it looks sharp to me, but then I can't see how it looks on your PC

Re: Photobucket test - a new pic

I guess it doesn't have to be 40's, just seems a few years ago... 70's then! Thanks for the comment though. Photobucket must be able to do the job otherwise people wouldn't accept it...who knows...

Re: Photobucket test - a new pic

FWIW I do like the treatment, suits her and old red of the train/bus?

PB seems odd, sometimes it's fine, and other occasions it can soften, I think Flickr is more consistent, but that isn't without it's problems either.

What settings did you tweak in PB? as this seems better.

Re: Photobucket test - a new pic

It is sized at 720 pixels - which isn't a PB standard size. I then chose the option to upload for best possible quality. I think sometimes it seems to resize to the PB format even if it is the right size, seems to mess with the file in some way.

Re: Photobucket test - a new pic

Your pics always look top notch to me.

Could you if you have the time inclination post two pics for us side by side.

One that you are happy with everything and one that you think photobucket has messed up?

We could then see if WE see any difference.

Oh by the way

I feel the 1940's feel.....................

Re: Photobucket test - a new pic

I would love to see a touch of cross processing on this Stu.

Re: Photobucket test - a new pic

Hi BC, you asked so I will give, but all in my opinion of course

!. A smashing picture, I love the comp/crop, and the wonderful expression.

2. To my eye I would have had a little less vignette effect, for some reason it looks a little stronger on the RH side and started to change the colour, unlike the left side.

3. Just a tad more light in the shadows, (back down the black level) I would like to see the top of her head.

None of the above is meant in a negative way as I'm sure you know Stu, but just my take on it
