Re: D300 to be discontinued soon?

Six months after Nikon introduced the D40 they brought out the D40X. Then the D60 quickly replaced it as Nikon's entry level dslr. My new D90 is a super camera, far superior to the D40X or D60. Soon the D80 will be history.

I truly am a techie AZZ. I make Intel processors and have been an electonic technician for 41 years. I own 3 computers including a new Acer Aspire One I bought last weekend. It nearly outpreforms my Toshiba Satellite laptop. I've turned it into a far superior GPS sytem I can carry on my bike, a 2008 fuel injected, computer controlled, shaft drive 2300cc Touring Power Cruiser by Triumph. I'm all set to retire now!!!!!!

Re: D300 to be discontinued soon?

So Nikon are planning to launch a 26mp D600 at 12 fps, iso 246000 and pro-long-life lith battery (+3000 images per charge - can fully charge in 12 minutes) UltraHDR video, rotating 3.2" screen, and SmartTech image recognition technology - a ramp up from the current models on offer.

So why isn't it being released yet? Because notwithstanding the fact it is not full frame, it knocks spots off the D700 which they still have huge stocks of.

Re: D300 to be discontinued soon?

Not until they've released a D400 and then D500 first. Although they may skip the D400 altogether. With cost of uncropped sensors dropping, we could be two generations (or one) away from seeing all semi pro cameras upwards, full frame.
