Re: Do these look the same to you?

Are they more saturated in the second lot in the same way they are in the first lot? (The first in each set being more vibrant/saturated)

Do you have LCD monitors/laptops? Or old style CRT monitors?

On my monitor they both look the same - I thought that might have been the case because they were both saved on it..

I think I know why they are showing different for everyone else - will hold off saying until more people reply tho.

Re: Do these look the same to you?

as most have stated, the second image in each set appears to be slightly less vibrant especially in the blue/azure range.

BUT I am viewing on my laptop, I will check later on my desktop monitor to see if it shows the same result

Re: Do these look the same to you?

Okay, I have had a mad few days, and I'm knackered, so my eyes might be a bit wonky, but on my monitor, I can't see much difference if any, especially the second set.

This worries, me as my monitor wasn't cheap, and was recently calibrated, so if I am seeing different to everyone else,I'm in trouble!

Re: Do these look the same to you?

Ok guys shall I share my findings?

In the first set the images on the top were saved with my old colour profile, and the ones underneath were saved with my new colour profile - they are the same image, just opened and 'saved for web'. They both looked the same here but that I would have expected that anyway. Hence posted this thread to check on your monitors.

The images in both sets (the ones in post 1 and post 5) are actually the same I just swapped them around (top/bottom) in the second set after reading your posts which made me suspect that...

The reason you were seeing the colour shift is because when viewed on most LCD monitors, the colour varies depending on the angle you are looking at the screen (so things higher up the screen will look different to things lower down - this is amplified if you have a large screen as well). This is especially true of laptops. Try it, tilt the screen backwards and you'll see the colour shift.

The reason for this is because most LCDs/Laptops have TN panels (which are subject to colour shift depending on the angle you are viewing the screen).

I tested this on 3 computers here, 2 with LCD monitors and 1 laptop. The two with LCD monitors have a sIPS and a sPVA screen (neither of which have colour shift like TN panels) the laptop uses a TN panel... and the laptop was the only one that showed slight colour difference like you were all seeing (until I made sure I was viewing each image in exactly the same place on the screen - scrolling up/down).

When Emma said she put them in layers in photoshop and there were the same, she jogged my memory about TN panels

Re: Do these look the same to you?

So I am not going mad, and needing to throw my monitor away? So me seeing no real difference was okay?

Lol yes, not seeing any difference was good

Even seeing a difference was fine, it just highlights what kind of screen people are using. I think around 90% of LCD monitors sold to date are using TN panels, perhaps higher.
