I've done it this way to take the clutter out the background. I'm hoping it works. Please tell me truthfully if it doesn't.

It's a lovely picture. In this case composition is irrelevant. It's a picture for the album or the wall and that's good enough!

As a snap for the family album it's cool. If you wanted to go beyond that think about white sheets as a background/home studio, or choose a more scenic background

It is a nice capture, and a lovely shot for the album, and of course it will always have special memory/meaning to you - but I don't think it works from a photography perspective, the composition, background and angle are just not doing it for me. Get down more on their level, as this is slightly taken from above, and head on can sometimes be more striking also - the background really is distracting.
