Can anything be done with this photo?

Hello to all, just a quick question from me! Took some pics of Isla on our walk this evening and took this:

I really like it, but trouble is in it's original size it's a bit fuzzy and out of focus in the foreground. Anyone know of anyway I can touch it up a bit to make it look more reasonable? Or is that not possible?!

I'm rubbish at this sort of thing if you haven't already guessed!

Re: Can anything be done with this photo?

Is the original any better than how it appears on this thread?

Cropping the image to get rid of some of the foreground will obviously make Isla appear bigger in the image but it may increase the 'fuzzyness' which will then require a fiddle around in photoshop to see what works best.

Re: Can anything be done with this photo?

Is the "out of focus" not just simply DoF?

Have you tried a sharpen on the photo?

Re: Can anything be done with this photo?

Not much better, no. I've taken out some of the foreground and faffed about a bit in Picasa and have come up with this (I can't work PS!). Not sure if it's better or not?

Mahooli also sent me this, which looks good:

Both an improvement, I think!

What's one of those when it's at home?

Ihave sharpened it up a bit on the pic above, don't want to try anymore cos it starts to look a bit iffy!

Thanks spotted your thread about DoF, very helpful.

I'll see if I can get the original up for you, the camera is just a point and shoot - Canon A420. Not really mine but far better than my Brothers Olympus.

And yes I do masquerade as a camera thief!
