Astoria Harbor

It was a great day for a ride to the coast today as the sun was out and 75 F was our high temperature. Even the sea lions agreed, basking in the brilliant sunshine.

Re: Astoria Harbor

I thought the first picture looks really good Bob, in fact it is a corker. Even more interesting that you have taken it on the Micro Nikkor 60mm lens. There was a time I used mine for portraits but hadn't thought about using it for landscapes.

One of the reasons I notice it also is that I've lived in many parts of the U.S.. The Air & water here are xompletely unpoluted. We get so much rainfall the natural filtration keeps bodies of water sparkling. The color of the sky here is so deeply blue it's almost unreal. I love it all.

Looks like a lovely scene Bob. The first has an almost Icelandic feel to it.

Re: Astoria Harbor

Odd! the posts seem to have been transposed and Bob answers Bazza before he has posted.

Anyway lovely views, think I prefer the second but I like them both it does look so peaceful.

Re: Astoria Harbor

Bazza the light is very different compared to the UK, where I am now the sky is extremely blue, and strong sunlight, but there is often a haziness to the light, perhaps because of the high humidity and high heat? My photo in the topic comp, was shot in Alabama, even more humid and hot , and the light seemed more hazy and diffused. Colours seem to pop a lot more here too.

Love the first shot, great composition Bob,looks perfect weather it's starting to get very hot here now. Lovely blues, it's virtually all blue and white, but it really works.
