Geraniums on an overcast day

I've come to actually look forward to overcast days because of the quality of the soft natural lighting. Greater subject detail and color saturation is the result. My flowers are just a few feet away from me on my apartment balcony so I notice the lighting out there all the time. I think this shot almost looks like a painting and is very refreshing.

Edited to remove second geranium flower

Re: Geraniums on an overcast day

I'm not generally into nature stuff but it looks a pleasing shot. You are right though, soft lighting can be a benefit for certain subjects and more easy on exposure than sunny, contrasty days (which tend to look better to the eye)

Re: Geraniums on an overcast day

I am into these sort of shots and you are right the light is lovely. If I have a problem I wish you had pulled the bloom on the left out of the way as it being cut in half rather spoils the shot for me. I find a peg, cloths peg (clip) to work well for the quick control of stray or unwanted blooms.
Kit 1
Pentax K7
Pentax 60-250mm
Sigma 105mm Macro
Pentax 12-24mm
Pentax 50mm 1.4
