Strawberry Fields

What a fun day my friend, Warren, and I had at Prairie Farms today. There was so much to photograph I'll be processing for a while. They had lots of activities for families including a Piggy Train, Tube Slide and Petting Zoo. There were kids of all ages there and I had fun taking family shots and passing out business cards. The strawberries were beyond delicious. Warren brought home a bucket full which we promptly ate as dessert after a great chicken dinner on the BBQ grill. Is was only $3 to get in and $8 for the big bucket of berries you pick yourself. They give you a free hayride to the picking fields and pick you up when you're through. Great fun!

Re: Strawberry Fields

Looks to have been a great day out for you and Warren. Sure there will be some good pics coming.

Interesting that you have (presumably unrelated) kids in your pictures. Over here, there seems to be a grossly distorted suspicion that men with cameras will either be a paedophile or a terrorist. Then we are concerned with issues around privacy for actually posting the pictures! Nice to see a happy kid shot for what it is. Presumably the US can be more relaxed and realistic about it.

I'm always careful to "feel out" the expressions of the children's parents while shooting children. I struck up brief conversations with them before photographing their kids. I handed out my business cards with all my contact information to the parents offering to send them the photos for free. That way they are put at ease, knowing I'm not some shadowy figure lurking around their kids snapping photos.
