Re: god dam it! cropping

Not sure - I tend to crop at 10x15 and find that although prints don't come in that size, they do nearly - and you can buy good photo paper in that size. It's always worked well enough for me so far - but you do need to allow for a small bit of extra coming off (or white edges) in a print. It doesn't bother me - but if I was specifically wanting 'perfect' prints - I would probably do it another way!

Re: god dam it! cropping

I tend to just think of the ratio

7 x 5 is popular
8 X 6 is also popular but slightly longer in shape.
12 X 8 is also popular - obviously same as 6 X 4

90% of mine are either 7 x 5 ratio or 12 x 8 ratio - that way I don't get confused if I buy prints.

Oh and square of course.

Re: god dam it! cropping

this is really confusing me... if i want to print on 6 x 4 paper what is the best size to crop to. i just used the preset crop on Picasa which is what has confused me. not printed any of my photos yet

Re: god dam it! cropping

I get 10x15, which is the metric equivalent of 6x4. is that right?
