Re: Family Portrait workshop/roadshow

...I said my bum was numb from yesterday sittimng on a chair Moonie!!!! Mark Cleghorm would have said all that in about 40 seconds!

Anyway, great post, I am well behind you in setting up as I am a bit distracted with other things including my full time job (at the moment anyway!)...but I would certainly like to get it set up proper. I am also trying to set up training and consultancy in my field of work also!

Anyway, I like the idea of holding hands... camera is a bit unsteady, but sure I'll manage..

Re: Family Portrait workshop/roadshow

Reaching out across the waters, damn slipped and fell into the Ocean, i have drowned another camera.

I do waffle on, when I am enthused, about a subject so sorry for looong post

Seriously though, it's good to have others, to bounce ideas off, and who are in same position.

Re: Family Portrait workshop/roadshow

Thanks BC for the rundown on the seminar, I was going to go myself but other commitments got in the way. I'm sure you gained more than the numb bum. I find it is afterwards, when I sit and think back, little snippets and gems of wisdom come back to me and are worth the effort and in some cases the expense.

Thanks Moonie for insight into your future plans. I agree with everything you say. I've been in business (not photography), had all the ups and downs but came out on top retiring as I did at 47. What brought me the success... self belief and total commitment, I'm not a gambler but I always backed myself with an underlying 'can't fail, wont fail' attitude. Constantly winding out my neck but thankfully retaining my head.

Go ahead with you website, also create a blog on it, use facebook and twitter, I don't know very much about these things except they are cheap advertising, good for networking and they work for many wedding/portrait photographers.

Get somebody else to build your website, some skills are better bought in. You obviously have the creative flair, good photographic skills and an excellent connection with people, those are your foundations, your cornerstones, build on them using other experts where necessary.

So go for it gal.

I'm off to the Yerbury lighting seminar in Scotland on Monday being held in Loxley's own theatre. Should be interesting.

Re: Family Portrait workshop/roadshow

Thank you Jeff XXX

Yep, social networking on Facebook, twitter etc sites, is essential, it's easy to do, and gets you out there, and it's free and good advertising. Makes people connect to you as a person, rather than a person behind a camera, so you build a rapport with hopefully future clients.
Will have the website connected to the blog, the blog, connected to twitter, twitter connected to Facebook, etc.

The lighting seminar sounds great, let us know how it goes, and what you think of it. have a good time xx
