Re: New website -new address!

Sam - the site is looking very good but I do have one small issue with it The problem is the page size - I have a 17" monitor and am constanly having to scroll across the read text/view images. Sites like that annoy me very quickly and I often can't be bothered to view them for long. When designing sites I tend to set the page width to 100% as oppose to having a fixed size. If this isn't something you want to consider then I would still look at decreasiong the size as several won't be able to view the site easily and it might put them off?

Re: New website -new address!

Hi KK. Congratulations on the new site

I have to say, the layout and colour scheme looks very professional indeed, however I'm slightly disappionted (as I'm sure you are) in the fact that nothing really works yet. I've seen your site advertised on Yo, & Dogsey and even typing in " Yo Photographer " into Google's search engine, brings up Kanikula Photography as two of the first three web sites of similar description on the list. It even appears higher up the list than the site I've just typed in!!!??? So, well done for getting it noticed!
But, when I follow the links to your site, I'm told " OOPS! " " click on News for more information." but when I do, the News link doesn't work. Once I've manually typed in your new address, and reach your site, most of the portfolio pages are still under construction, and the one that you can open, doesn't work.
The site is also littered with spelling & grammar mistakes, taking away the professional look that you strive for.

I don't know if you were under some sort of time restraint in getting the site live, but I think you should have waited until it was completely finished before advertising it and offering free pet portraits as prizes on another site.

I fear that more than 50% of the people who visit your site at this stage, will probably not return. If they can't trust the web site which, in effect, is your shop window, then how can they trust what you're selling them?

I don't mean to be cutting Sam, I'm simply being honest with you.

I love most of your pictures, and do enjoy seeing your new posts on Yo! when you do so.

I really hope you get the site working soon, but if you do continue to have problems, I would seriously consider taking it down for a while, otherwise in the long run,you may actually do your online business more harm than good.

MD

Re: New website -new address!

Yeah much better - it doesn't stretch your page for one!

I would recommend a slightly bigger font size for the text tho. Also, I would change the 'about' page to focus more on the type of photography you have done, which is widely acclaimed (your hdrs for eg), and just not even mention how you got into photography - you want to show you are a professional, so don't even mention it was a 'hobby' etc. Jmo
