Now I can go to 960mm

I aquired an old teleconverter off a friend today. It's got 7 elements (by all accounts) and although I was a bit sceptical, I tried it on my 40d with my old ef 75-300mm lens and I have to say that the results are better than I'd expected.

My 75-300 lens is an SLR lens so with the 35mm / 1.6X factor it's essentially a 120-480mm lens but on my DSLR - with the teleconverter added it's a 240-960mm

Here's a couple of 'point and shoot' examples just shot from the back door.

1 = centered on the chimney of the brightest white house. Whole image

2 = quick lens swap and converter added. Whole image.

3 = Centered on the green toy beastie on top of the line post.

4 = quick lens swap and converter added. Whole image.

Hmmm

Food for thought indeed.

My F.8 500mm Reflex lens has a 35mm equivalent of 750mm.
With one of those extender converter thingamyjigs, that would give me 1500mm
