Getting To Know YOu! (Dejavu)

Dejavu has very kindly agreed to let us interview him!

YOP: Dejavu - Tell us how you got involved in photography?
Dejavu: It really took off for me in 2003 when I bought my first DSLR, the Canon 300d. Although I was always interested in photography and had various film cameras before digital, it was just to expensive for me to take seriously.

I was also only interested in pairing my 300d to my 1200mm telescope to shoot astro images at this time and was totally hooked when I shot my first M42 image (the great Orion nebulae)

YOP: What in your opinion creates a great image?
Dejavu: For all types of photography I would say a pleasing subject to start with, knowing how to make your subject look its best with good composition and light.

YOP: Who, if anyone has inspired you - photography or just generally?
Dejavu: Yop's own Phil has inspired me after seeing his Glencoe-Scottish highland shots, which I think were first posted on Dogsey.

YOP: Which type of photography do you find most enjoyable, or challenging, and why?
Dejavu: The most challenging is definitely astrophotography. The most enjoyable for me is landscape as it's just a thrill for me to travel to new places to image, or go back to places I've visited before, to try something different.

YOP: What's your personal fave photograph?
Dejavu: I don't have a single image as a favourite . What I normally do is keep what I think are my best shots at the top of each category on my website.

YOP: What camera/lenses do you use most of all, and why?
Dejavu: For landscapes I only use my 5dmkii and 17-40mm f4.0 L Why? Only the best will do I do on occasion use my 70-200mm as well. For birds and wildlife I use my 50d and 400mm f5.6 L for the reach and crop factor.

YOP: What is the future of photography?
Dejavu: In a word, 3D

Actually Dejavu, I've just googled Astrophotography and goodness it seems like such a vast area could you perhaps post a new thread that could maybe be stickied (sp) about how to begin in the area? Its something I know nothing about and would like to know where to even begin?
