Re: Sunpak PZ40x

All I could find is:

Quote:
Compatible Nikon digital cameras. Nikon Mk 1 Fitting suitable for Non iTTL metered cameras - eg all film cameras plus D100,D1X, Coolpix 5000, 5400, 5700.
Their own website says:

Quote:
PZ40X to be workable with i-TTL・D-TTL for Nikon
Are you buying it from a shop? if so I'd email them asking if it works, and if they say yes and it doesn't they you have grounds to send it back as they told you it would

Re: Sunpak PZ40x

As long as it's the PZ40X NE-i then it's for Nikon.

If it works - this PZ40X chart gives you a list of which camera models are ok

Re: Sunpak PZ40x

This isn't specific to that flashgun, but I think I am right to say that third party flashes are not always compatible with the i-ttl on the more upmarket Nikons? May be worth checking. I had a Jessops flash for a start and it worked ok but my SB600 is so much better although rarely use it.

Re: Sunpak PZ40x

It's a nikon one a family friend has sitting spare.

I was more worried about flash firing voltages ect - heard stories of knackered cameras.

More just a tide me over till i can afford an SB flash of some description.

I'm finding i deffo need an external flash as my indoor stuff is being limited by the onboard flash.

Re: Sunpak PZ40x

Not sure. The old flashes used to put big voltages across the contacts but modern ones are only about 5 volts I think as a trigger. If you want Jessops were doing their own brand Nikon compatable for around £36 quid brand new a couple of weeks back, massively reduced from around £99 a year or so back. That is decent enough and less than a night in the pub.

Re: Sunpak PZ40x

Just for info.

It DOES work BUT.....

You can only use it in manual, not TTL - which is odd as after some digging it says it's iTTL.

However, it's 4 pin which suggests iTTL not the 5 pin dTTL - but it only appears to work with dTTL in 4 pin mode? Baffled.

Anyhow - buying an SB900 tomorrow i hope. My only beef with the 900 is it's HUGE size. May end up with a 600 but i doubt it lol.
