Re: Studio Lighting - is this kit any good?

The SB 600 cannot be used as a commander flash, it works as a slave when the camera ie D200 /D300 Nikon built in flash is the commander.

SB800 works as a commander when on the hotshoe of a Nikon without this facility ie D40.

Re: Studio Lighting - is this kit any good?

Gosh this is a complicated subject, it seems the use of light is far more difficult and complicated than the use of a camera - perhaps a beginners course is required.

Pentax 12-24mm
Pentax 50mm 1.4

Yes im with you now LOL So the 800 will fire without the prefalsh from the camera, whereas the 600 needs it I need to read up more on this blooming 800.

That said, you should be able to run more than one 600 on commander. The D200 has more than one "space" to programme in a speedlight.
