Photography Magazines - your faves

Hi there

I was wondering if anyone regularly reads/purchases any of the plethora of photography related magazines that are out there and can recommend their favourite?

I am off up to Scotland on holiday for the week so fancied taking some light reading with me and as a newbie I thought what better than something that would help me with my photography skills!

Cheers in advance for the advice.

Re: Photography Magazines - your faves

I subscribe to Practical Photography and occasionally buy Amateur Photography.

You will find that once you have been reading the mags for 6 /12 months that they start regurgitating the old topics and can become a bit boring. Practical Photography, which I have every month by subscription, is very much like that and if it were not for the fact that I pay by direct debit and it is posted to me, I probably would not get it every month.

Having said that I do find it to be one of the better mags along with Outdoor Photography, and Digital Camera magazine which is too expensive really.

Re: Photography Magazines - your faves

I am a big fan of Practical Photography, being new to photography, I find it easy to understand, but interesting too, I have now bought a subscription to it, and I sometimes buy, Digital Camera, and Photo Icon (this is so I can drool over the pictures).

But, Practical Photography gets a big thumbs up from me

Don't usually buy photography mags but decided to get one to day and guess what I got, that's right Practical Photography. Will let you know what I think when I have time to look at it.

I don't buy any magazines anymore, for the reasons Steve put - after a while it's all samey. Plus you get the latest news on the web, much quicker

I agree they do tend to repeat themselves. Another idea is to browse them and see if anything catches your eye.

But, don't you ever just sit down, and read a magazine with a nice cuppa and some chocolate Bliss
