Shutter and Ap max

Just curious, but in what circumstances would you use a shutter of 4000 or an aperture of f32.
These things are on my camera but I've never used them as yet.

If any one has a pic to show at these setting (or more) please do.

Re: Shutter and Ap max

Try taking a photo of a water droplet as it hits the water, I think you will then find you will need a high shutter speed to freeze the shot.

Re: Shutter and Ap max

I got this Febuary this year on my old FZ38. Shutter was 1/30.

Apart from dripping water why would you go to 4000. Is it just to catch fast moving things.

Same for aperture. I can go to f32 if I wished, but I wouldn't know what for.

Re: Shutter and Ap max

Being newish to my dslr Bazza I don't understand a lot of the technical side of things. I'm learning slowly. But don't understand things like why would I have f32. When on landscape mode it says rich blues and greens to the horizon and picks a f number around f16

Re: Shutter and Ap max

Not being a canon owner I can't really help with canon cameras

Check the background in the pictures and see depth of field. This should answer your question better

Although the shutter was slow I suspect the flash fired, this would have given the same effect as a very fast shutter speed (stopping the motion).

I guess like a lot of things it's there but not always used, my car will do 151mph but I've never used the top speed (honest officer).

Re: Shutter and Ap max

Minimum apertures have uses - imagine trying to take a longish shutter speed in fairly bright light. If you didn't have a neutral density filter to reduce the amount of light entering the lens the only way is to reduce the aperture sometimes to tiny sizes.
