Re: My New Camera

I keep giving him this to play with so he can instantly see the difference by sliding the lighting control etc

Re: My New Camera

Thanks for all the tips everyone.

Now the sad news.

The D3100 has gone back. There was a problem with the focusing. 4 people in the shop had a play with it and all agreed there was a problem. I thought it was me because my hand shake but it wasn't. The automatic focus didn't focus correctly. They put it on a the counter so it was rock steady, focused on some letters and it still came out not right. After playing with it for 3 days the truth be known I didn't like the set up that much anyway, I know I would have got used to it but there was lots of button pressing to get from one bit to the other.

Sooooooooooooooooooo, I picked up a Canon 550D and was looking at that. Lighter than the Nikon, liked the idea of remote from the pc (I think that had it). But I didn't get that.

I ended up getting, (and a big thanks to Niko for his help) the Lumix G3. It's sitting in front of me just now while I wait for the battery to charge. What clinched it was its size. I thought this is for me, no lugging a heavy camera around. Being lighter, hopefully I wont get as bad camera shake. (Apparently it can focus in a nano second) Also being so happy with the FZ38 over the last few years I thought I'd stick with the Lumix brand.
A lens for it is not cheap, but I'd bet a few bob they won't bad when I do get one.
So the fund for my new lens starts here: Please send money as a paypal gift to............

So there we have it. For the moment I now have a Lumix G3. I'll repeat that. For the moment.....

Re: My New Camera

Dave, the right camera for you is the one that suits you best, whatever it is. Being M4/3 there are a wealth of lenses available to you. Ok, maybe not the wide range of the big makers , but still pretty extensive. Good luck to you and happy togging!

Olympus E510

Re: My New Camera
