recommended macro lens?
I am looking for my next buy for next year 
and i have always wanted a macro lens as this is what got me in to photography. I have no idea what am supposed to be looking for.
i would like a 1.8f as i want it to be fast, also wanting this to double as a portrait lens.
any recommendations?

If you can stretch to it - the Nikon 105mm is just lush

Yep, you will have to decide what you are photographing. To be honest I like my 60mm Nikon macro (f2.8) more than my 105mm on a crop sensor like the D200. youi can pick one up secondhand for aeround £250ish. The 105mm is very nice, have one of those, but i don't tend to get in really close on small objects so the 60mm is still my fave.
None are f1.8. f2.8 is the norm. If you get the 60mm it also works very well as a facial portrait lens on a D200.
The 90mm Tamron is meant to be good too. Bazza has one.

Yes, f2.8 is the norm and I have the 105mm, hoping to pick up the 60mm at some stage, but the 105 is ideal for what I shoot I don't like *having* to get too close to living subjects as it can scare them

It can hunt a bit for focus but I understand that is not unusual for a macro lens.

No, I find even the Nikkor 105 does that too - it has a lot of focus to travel through I suppose!

Siggy 150mm f2.8 is excellent, if you save a little longer the Nikon 200mm f/4.
