also, if editing portraits for a client, by keeping an uncropped edited version you can easily crop to the print size they want (7:5, 6:4) etc which you can't do if you crop at the start of the process.

not that I am that far along yet that I have clients, but I think its worth establishing a good work flow early on!

I forgot to add that I always work on a copy of the original photo incase an irretrievable error occurs.
